Society of Access Alumni Nepal (SAAN) is a nationwide, voluntary network bringing together young leaders who completed the English Access Microscholarship Program in Nepal.
Identity and Purpose
Who We Are
The English Access Microscholarship Program has provided English communication, digital literacy, and civic awareness to bright adolescents from socio-economically disadvantaged communities across Nepal. Over the years, graduates have stepped into higher education, community organizations, public institutions, and professional careers.
SAAN was established as an independent alumni-led body to ensure that the friendships, shared democratic values, and leadership abilities gained during the program continue to benefit local communities across Nepal.
Our association is newly formed in 2026, transitioning from the former Access Alumni Association Nepal (AAAN) to establish structured representation in each of the country's seven federal provinces. We are currently mobilizing alumni directories and organizing regional focal points.

From the founding of the Access program in Nepal to our transition into SAAN in 2026.
2011
Launch of Access Microscholarships in Nepal
The English Access Microscholarship Program was inaugurated in Nepal through the support of the U.S. Embassy Nepal, with NELTA serving as the nationwide implementing partner. Deserving students from public schools began their transformative two-year journey.
2015
Access Alumni Association Nepal (AAAN) Formation
Graduating scholars organically came together to form the Access Alumni Association Nepal (AAAN), coordinating earthquake relief support, informal learning camps, and alumni gatherings in the Kathmandu valley and select districts.
2018 to 2022
Expansion to Regional Cohorts
As new Access cohorts graduated in eastern, central, and western districts of Nepal, alumni formed regional networks, sharing peer tutoring techniques, virtual learning sessions, and community library initiatives.
2026
Transition from AAAN to SAAN
To adapt to Nepal's federal landscape and ensure fair representation for alumni in all parts of the country, the network transitioned from the old AAAN to the Society of Access Alumni Nepal (SAAN). SAAN establishes dedicated Provincial Leads in all 7 provinces under a unified central executive committee.
